A Tribute to Weld Coxe

On March 20, 2011, I published my own tribute to Weld Coxe, shortly after I learned of his death. A few months later, I was honored when Randy Pollock, the Managing Editor of Marketer — the journal of the Society for Marketing Professional Services — asked me to curate a very special tribute to Weld Coxe for the August issue.

It was truly a labor of love from so many people who shared their personal reminiscences about a man who has had so much to do with who we are today. I hope you'll enjoy the article.

At the 2011 National Build Business Conference, the SMPS National Board of Directors announced that they had voted to rename their Marketing Achievement Award as the Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award in honor and memory of SMPS co-founder and industry legend Weld Coxe, Hon. AIA, FSMPS. The MAA is the preeminent SMPS individual honor that salutes industry professionals for exemplary achievements adn contributions to the field of professional services marketing in the design and banking industry. The award criteria require that nominees demonstrate significant accomplishments in at least three of five categories: education, professional leadership, innovative programs, marketing communications, and research.
